City Place

We had a great time at City Place today! All of the kids did extremely well and love the trolley ride. The breeze was blowing and we enjoyed the fresh air. First we walked around...talked about holding hands when crossing the street...looking for cars...etc. We identified some letters on signs and of course, looked at the water...although the big fountains weren't running:( Then we went to the trolley stop and waited patiently. We all hopped on and then off we went around town. The kids were happy and sat so nicely.Very proud of them all. (We missed not having AJ..hope he feels better soon) 

Then we headed back to Panera where we were able to join some tables together and sit outside. Again, the did extremely well.

The Most exciting part was getting some yummy ice cream at Sloan's.  We also celebrated Ms. Merlyn's Birthday today! 

More field trips are in our future:) Thanks to Mrs. Kim for joining along.

These were taken last week. The kids love playing with Shaving Cream.  It was a nice break from our academic rotations. The class is working hard. Communication is all forms is being pushed and expected by all. Expressing wants/needs...feeling toward friends....participation in morning meeting and work stations. Please continue to work on identifying their classmates.

As per discussion at Back to School Night, all daily notes will be emailed. It is just easier for me to send a quick email with any information that needs to be shared. Feel free to respond back if you have a question or comments or if you would like to share information with me about their mood or any changes in routine.

The children are very working hard at our Centers! We are seeing less behaviors and are able to get more work done each session. Data is being collected on IEP goals and as mentioned I may be contacting about changing some of the current criteria for mastery. My goal is to keep them moving and motivated...so if they are working on a goal for too long...I feel that they lose motivation and confidence. It's important that they feel successful and smart.

Activity Fee

Don't forget that each semester there is an Activity Fee of $150.00. This allows us to plan for field trips, it also pays for our Music and Dance teachers etc.

Week 2

Here are some more pictures from Week 2. We continue to make progress and feel that we are building our own little community. I am starting to schedule Home Visits for all. I really think it is an important part of the learning process...for me especially. I like seeing how the kids function at home...my goal is to bring a little bit of home to school. They need to feel comfortable to learn. I also may ask you to follow through with things we are doing at school. Our goal is consistency and progress. Thanks for all that you do. I have no problem with, and I encourage parents to observe the class. All outside therapists are welcome to observe at anytime.

Week 3:

Data Collection continues on IEP goals

Behaviors are being targeted and behavior plans are being put into place.

Communication is being pushed and encouraged in all forms....this is a top priority.
